For those unfamiliar with you, can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got involved in the fitness industry?

I was a gymnast for nine years, and was Louisiana State Champion each year that I competed. I represented Louisiana in the level 8 regionals, and I received 1st place in bars and 2nd place for overall. During that time, I trained every morning and evening. Once I retired from gymnastics, I started playing tennis on Troy University’s tennis team during my freshman year of college. School became my main priority, and I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Public Health. Over time, I lost track of my healthy lifestyle. Once I graduated, I decided that I needed to get back into shape, and I threw around the idea of doing an NPC Bikini Competition. At first, I was very intimidated, but then I realized I had nothing to lose, and I went for it! After my first competition, I fell in love with the sport, and in the future, I hope to become an IFBB Bikini pro. In the meantime, I have decided to pursue a career with health and fitness, and I will be starting my master’s degree in Exercise Science. I couldn’t be more excited!

What were your biggest challenges when you first started training?

My biggest challenge when I first started training was having patience. I was training all of the time, and I thought I would start seeing results immediately. Then, I realized I didn’t have my diet under control. As soon as I changed my diet, I started seeing results!

How did you become a Tampa Bay Lightning Girl? What do you love about it, and what is the training like?

After competing in my first NPC Bikini Competition I had a new-found confidence, and I wanted to go after things that I never thought were possible before. I had seen the Lightning Girls around town. I loved how they represented the Tampa Bay Lightning and the community in such a positive light. I thought it would be a great opportunity to make new friends and cheer on the best team in the NHL!

Before the season begins, we practice two nights a week, and do a fun boot camp on the weekends. Practice includes dancing, working out, and team bonding. Every weekend, the boot camp is different, and it varies with different types of workouts! During the season we practice once a week because we have games and appearances throughout the week. What I love most about being a Lightning Girl is that during the games we are right in the stands with the fans! It is so exhilarating to experience the action with the fans by your side!

How did you become involved with Magnum Nutraceuticals? And what do you love most about the company?

I have been with Magnum since September 2015. I was contacted by the brand manager about a possible sponsorship opportunity, and I did some research on Magnum. I was extremely impressed with Magnum, and I felt so comfortable speaking with the president of Magnum, Markus Kaulius. He is one of the most genuine people I know. Markus offered me a sponsorship, and I knew immediately that joining Magnum was the BEST decision I could have made. I am truly blessed to represent a company who stands by their integrity in their products with a 100% customer guarantee. What I love most about the company is that after using the products the results speak for themselves. Magnum doesn’t cheat on their labels and the products are 100% pharmaceutical grade. Magnum uses the highest quality grade ingredients, so I know I can trust what I’m putting into my body, and it enables me to see results quickly!

How does your training and diet evolve as you get closer to a competition?

I try to enjoy myself during the off season, but I still eat pretty clean. This prevents me from having to do an extreme prep. When I am about 8 weeks out from a competition, I increase my cardio, and I eat higher protein and cleaner carbs. When I am 4 weeks out, I start doing cardio twice daily, and I slowly decrease my carbs and increase my water intake. I love watching my body change over time. I think it has to be the most rewarding experience when it comes to competing!

What is your secret to your incredible shoulder development?

Thank you! Training shoulders has always been my favorite, and I train them 1-2 times a week! I really focus on my form and technique as opposed to lifting heavy. I also love using cables, so I have full resistance during both the concentric and eccentric movements.

What does your current diet look like?

Erin’s Daily Diet:

  • Meal 1: 1 cup Oatmeal, 1 cup Egg Whites, 1 scoop Quattro Protein mixed in Water
  • Meal 2: 4 ounces Chicken Breast, 4 ounces Sweet Potato and ½ cup Broccoli
  • Meal 3: 4 ounces Chicken Breast and ½ cup White Rice
  • Meal 4: 4 ounces Ground Lean Turkey and 1 cup Asparagus
  • Meal 5: 6 ounces Salmon and 1 cup Spinach
  • Meal 6: 1 scoop Quattro Protein mixed in Water

What’s the one food you couldn’t live without? And how do you handle cravings?

Steak! I could eat it all day, and never get sick of it! (Laughs) I also have a BIG sweet tooth. If there is pie in front of me, it is really difficult for me to resist it. To be honest, it is very difficult for me to resist anything sweet! (Laughs) Right now, my biggest weakness is key lime pie and in the fall, it will be pumpkin pie! I handle cravings by drinking a lot of water. If I’m still having cravings, I’ll chew flavored gum, and that usually solves the problem! If I’m STILL having cravings, then I will sometimes give in. However, I’ll just have a small amount. I think moderation is ‘key’, and I don’t think I should completely restrict myself!

What’s your favorite flavor of protein powder?

My favorite protein powder is Magnum’s Quattro Peanut Butter Addiction and Vanilla Ice Cream.

Do you have any special beauty secrets or tips you’d like to share?

I think my most important beauty tip is to always smile. You can wear all the makeup in the world, but smiling shows your true beauty because it’s natural, and you can never smile too much!

What do you love most about living in Florida?

I absolutely love the weather in Florida. The weather here is beautiful in the fall and it really only gets cold in January and February. I also love the rain we have in the summer. I think it’s so cool how it will shower in the afternoon and then immediately be sunny! Of course living by the beach is pretty cool too! (Laughs)
