For those unfamiliar with you, can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got involved in the fitness industry?

I’ve always been pretty active and trained in Martial Arts. I’m a black belt in Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu and Taekwondo. I started weight lifting when I met my fiancé, James Hurst. James always trained with weights and when he decided to compete in Men’s Physique, I decided to join him.

What were your biggest challenges when you first started training?

For me, diet was the biggest challenge. I love the physical aspect of training, but the dieting was tough.

How did you become involved with The Protein Cookie Company? And what do you love most about the company?

I always wanted to try The Protein Cookie Company’s Cookies, and I was approached by Marcela Cabral who is sponsored by them. Once I tried The Protein Cookie Company’s Cookies, I was hooked at first bite! (Laughs)

Which protein cookie is your favorite? And how do you fit it into your meal plans?

My favorite is the Classic Chocolate Chip Protein Cookie. I incorporate it into either my pre or post workouts from time to time.

How does your training and diet evolve as you get closer to a competition?

It really depends on how my body is responding. There have been preps when my cardio and diet wasn’t as intense and there have been some preps when it was. So, each prep tends to differ as my body changes.

What does your current training look like?

I receive my workouts from my coach and am unable to share them at this time.

What are your favorite exercises for arms?

Hammer Curls!

What is your secret to your incredible glute development?

Everything I do, I lead with my heels, running, Stairmaster and my workouts. I always make sure to keep the pressure on my heels and really connect with my muscles. I also concentrate on negative reps.

What does your current diet look like?

Again, I can’t share my meal plan that I receive from my coach. But, I eat clean, and I do include The Protein Company’s Protein Cookies into my diet.

I have two tattoos; one is a tiger that represents the year I was born, and the other is my zodiac sign, Virgo with a dragonfly. The dragonfly represents the changes in my life during the time I had it done, and the flower is for September. And no, I do not have plans for anymore.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of the fitness industry?

Sadly, I don’t have much time for any other hobbies at this time, but when I wasn’t competing, I loved making jewelry and anything crafty!

Where’s the favorite place you’ve traveled to so far, and where would you like to go in the future?

I love Kauai. There’s something about the serenity, and it is absolutely gorgeous. And Costa Rica is in the works! I would love to visit Dubai and Turkey as well.
