For those unfamiliar with you, can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got involved in the fitness industry?
I was born and raised in Kansas. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Wichita State University. My fitness journey started the day I found out I had testicular cancer for the second time. It was at that point in my life I decided to make a change in my lifestyle.I made a deliberate and conscious daily effort to get healthy and be in great shape, so that if cancer ever came back, I would fight it with everything I had.
This decision honestly saved my life, and once I started living the lifestyle there was no turning back!
Recently, I saw your amazing 4 year transformation. There is a noticeable difference in your physique. What were some of the major changes you made during that 4 year period?
For me, it has been all about consistency, discipline and commitment. It has been a day in and day out process. I try to bring focus and intensity every time I step inside the gym. I break it down to a day at a time, just trying to be better than I was the day before.
I still have a lot of work to do, but I am happy with the progress I have made so far.
How did you become involved with HitchFit and what do you love most about working there?
I became involved with HitchFit after competing with the WBFF and meeting Micah and Diana. At the time, I was working for the local government, and I did personal training on the side. I decided training was my true passion, and I knew I wanted to train at a place that I believed in, so I reached out to Micah and Diana at HitchFit. I love it at HitchFit; it is such an upbeat, inspiring and friendly gym. All the trainers are friendly; they encourage each and every person that walks through the front door. It’s a very positive and friendly atmosphere and it’s a very fun and unique place to work.
As a ‘transformation’ trainer, what do you tell your clients who have a long ways to go, and where do you have them start?
Everyone that walks through our doors at HitchFit came there for a reason. They need help getting their health back, and we are there to guide them along the way. I always tell people that “you have to start somewhere,” and that “we will be on this journey together, one day at a time.” I try to break the program into small realistic goals. This is easier for people to comprehend, rather than trying to give them huge goal up front. I am always honest and realistic with people about results. I tell them it takes time and patience to lose weight the healthy way.
How did you become involved with Magnum Nutraceuticals?
I became involved with Magnum through HitchFit. I met Markus when he flew from Canada to speak with the trainers at HitchFit about Magnum’s products. I have never seen a guy more passionate and dedicated to his products! I knew right then and there that I wanted to be a part of his company. Magnum is a company that takes the integrity of their product very seriously. I believe in Magnum’s products and what the company stands for, so it’s very easy for me to recommend their products, because I believe in Markus and Magnum.

What’s your favorite flavor of Opus and how do you take it?
The new Opus flavor Dreamsicle is amazing! I like to take my normal pre workout supplements, Limitless and Rocket Science first. Then I will mix up a scoop of Opus and drink it on the way to the gym and during my workout. Opus gives me that little ‘extra push’ to get through my workouts!

What does your current diet look like?
I am currently doing some carb cycling. I have two low carb day at only 60 grams per day, and one high carb day at 200 grams per day. Below is an example of my high carb day.

- Meal 1: 1 Cup Oats, 6 Egg Whites, 4 Slices Turkey Bacon and 1 Scoop Casein
- Meal 2: 8 Ounces Lean Ground Turkey, 2 Cups Broccoli and 3 Rice Cakes
- Meal 3: 8 Ounces Chicken Breast, 2 Cups Broccoli and 1 Medium Sweet Potato
- Post Workout: 1 Scoop Vanilla Quattro, 1 Cup Oats and 6 Egg Whites
- Meal 4: 4 Ounces Lean Ground Turkey and 3 Rice Cakes
- Meal 5: 8 Ounces Top Sirloin Steak and 2 Cups Asparagus
What’s the secret to your incredible arm development?
I do a lot of drop sets and super sets. By my training split, you can probably tell that legs are my weaker area. Instead of ignoring them, I hit them twice a week and hard.
Are you excited about representing Magnum at your first Olympia?
I am so excited! I have never been to the Olympia. Going for the first time and to be representing such an awesome company is an amazing feeling! I am so grateful to Markus and Magnum for this opportunity to go and hangout with some pretty legit physiques from the Magnum Team.
Congratulations on your recent engagement to WBFF Pro Taylor Daniel. How did you two meet?
Thanks, I couldn’t be happier to share my life with such an amazing, beautiful and supportive woman. We met through my cousin who works with Taylor. We went on a blind date and after the very first date, I knew I wanted to be with her.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of the fitness industry?
It has been a busy year for the two of us. Taylor and I are building our first home, getting married and we have two young Siberian Huskies, Lincoln and Jackson. Taylor and I are very home oriented, and we spend a lot of time with our dogs. I am looking forward to our home being done and having a backyard for our dogs to run in.
