An Interview with Kevin Ostyn ‘Kevtii’ Physique Competitor & Fitness Model

For those unfamiliar with you, can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got involved in modeling and the fitness industry?

I was a skinny little guy in school and I got tired of always being laughed at. At 16 years old, I started training with my sister’s boyfriend a few days a week. At that time, I didn’t follow any specific meal plan and after several months, I gave up weight training because I got bored.

When I turned 18 years, I started training again with two of my friends; Tim and Jens. I really looked up to them and they helped me a lot. The first two to three years of my training, I didn’t follow any specific meal plan; I just ate as much as I could!

Two years ago I met a coach from Spain and he helped me with my meal plans. The progress I made was amazing; it motivated me even more. Now, two years later, I do all of my own meal planning, but as I get closer to a competition, my good friend Roel Henno helps me.

I’ve also been very fortunate to get connected with some really good photographers in the industry; it has been a dream come true! This year I went to Bodypower Expo; I had an amazing time and got to do several photo shoots. I’m hungry for more photo shoots, but for now I’m focusing on building a bigger and more impressive physique.


Are you currently sponsored and if so tell us a little bit about that and how you got connected.

Back in the days you had to win shows to get sponsored, but now the internet is one of most important things when it comes to sponsorship. I have been contacted by a lot of companies, but I only want to work with companies that bring a positive addition into my life; I’ve rejected many because I only want to represent companies I truly believe in.

Tell us a little about Team BC and how you got involved with them.

Team BC stands for Team Body Central, also called Bcmovement. I met them last year backstage at a show I was in through one of my buddies, Roel Henno. During the last 6 weeks of my competition prep Roel helped me and during that time we became good friends.


I love to be involved with people who share my passion. We take are training seriously and plan to bring a lot of trophies home!

What’s the most challenging or the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you on a photo shoot?

For one phot shoot, I was told to bring a pair of jeans with me and I grabbed a pair out of my closet without thinking. The morning of my photo shoot, I put on my jeans and guess what? They were huge and my jeans kept falling down during the shoot.

What does your supplementation look like? Tell us what you like to use and why.

Multivitamin – In my eyes, a multivitamin has to be part of every meal plan.

Whey Protein – For me, whey is a handy source of protein. I prefer to take the isolate because it’s absorbed much quicker!

Maltodextrin – I like Maltodextrin because it’s an excellent source of carbs and provides me with a lot of energy during my workouts.

BCAA’s – I drink during my workouts to protect my muscles and increase my recovery time.

Pre Workout Stimulant – A good pre workout stim really helps give me that extra energy!

Tell us about your tattoos and what they represent.

My tattoos mean a lot to me and they all have a very special meaning. I have a skull on my bicep; it represents a lot of loved ones that I’ve lost over the past year. I have a girl inked on my inner bicep; it’s dedicated to my best friend that committed suicide. And the eye on my shoulder reminds me that everyone who has passed away still watches over me.

On my back I have the sentence “Failure will never overtake me.” No matter how hard things get, I will never give up on anything. I will never give up on life like a few close friends of mine have done.

For being so young, you seem like very positive person. What do you attribute this to and who has influenced you the most?

I have been through a lot the past several years; from breakups to losing loved ones. I had some really low moments where I really wanted to give up, but I’ve learned that looking back on your past will never bring anything positive to your future. I am a very humble person and always love to help and encourage others.


What are your hobbies or interests outside of the fitness realm?

To be honest, I do not have any other hobbies outside the fitness realm; I dedicate everything to my sport. I am a welder in my daily life, which you could say is my hobby. I love going out with my girlfriend and having some quality time with her; she’s the most important person in my life!
