How to Make Ground Bison Burgers

I happened to find this great company, Frontiere Natural Meats. They have all natural and organic meats. Bison is one of my favorite meats and their ground bison makes the perfect  summertime burger.

If you like a milder flavored meat, you’ll love the taste of ground bison. It’s an easy meat to cook and it’s great on the grill. No grill today because it’s raining out. Florida weather can be unpredictable, but these burgers can be done easily on the grill or stove top.

I leave the ground bison in the refrigerator the night before to let it thaw.

Break apart the ground bison and place on high heat. I like to cook in bulk because it’s a more convenient option for me.

Reduce to a medium heat. Every so often I remove the lid and stir.

I like bison best medium rare; it cooks in about five minutes.

After five minutes I turn the stove off, leave the lid on and let it finish cooking.

  • Garlic gives the burgers an excellent flavor.
  • Mash avocado.
  • Top with sliced tomatoes.

I top it with this cute mini bun, made from flax and millet.
And there you have it, a juicy bite sized bison burger!

I portion out the rest of the bison into glass containers and freeze it. When my week gets hectic and I need a quick high quality protein meal, I just thaw it out.

What have you been grilling this summer? I’d love to hear from you. Please leave a comment in the section below.
