Nutrition Beast: Top 10 Weight loss Tips for Women

Last week, I finished up a series on muscle building for women. On the flip side, if you’re serious about losing weight, the next two weeks are for you.

Over the course of the next two weeks, we’ll be discussing nutritional and supplemental strategies that will assist you in reaching your goals. We’ll also take a look at some of the top exercises and foods to promote weight loss.

Let’s start the week off with some general guidelines to help you get started on your weight loss journey.

Beastly Tip #1 – Don’t starve

Starving yourself will backfire. Women who want to lose weight and starve themselves tend to eat more in the long run.

Beastly Tip #2 – Ditch the junk

Your focus must be on clean foods that are minimally processed.

Beastly Tip #3 – Diet comes first

Dial in your diet first, before adding cardio.

Beastly Tip #4 – Watch your caloric intake

If you overeat, you will store unwanted body fat.

Beastly Tip #5 – Caloric check

Keep your calories in check. You must be in a caloric deficit to lose weight.

Beastly Tip #6 – Train with weights

Even though your goal is to lose weight, train with weights. Weights won’t make you bulky. Training with weights will help promote fat loss and sculpt your body.

Beastly Tip #7 – Do weights first

Do your weight training first and then do some cardio. If you have trained sufficiently, you’ll have drained your glycogen stores. By the time you hit the treadmill you will be in fat burning mode.

Beastly Tip #8 – Don’t overdo cardio

Cardio is not the Holy Grail when it comes to weight loss; your diet will make or break your weight loss efforts. Cardio should primarily be done for health reasons and to give your metabolism a boost.

Beastly Tip #9 – Stick with it

Journal and monitor your progress. Stay consistent and make small changes slowly. It’s easier to make small adjustments rather than from starting from scratch.

Beastly Tip #10 – Rest days

Being active on rest days can add up to an extra caloric deficit. Find something outside the gym you enjoy doing and do it. This is also a good day to meal prep for the week.
