Healthy Coffee Brownies Under 200 Calories

This is my family’s favorite recipe. I have modified the original recipe to make it even healthier. As soon as I make them, they seem to vanish.

Before I get started, I pre heat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9×9 pan with cooking spray. Then I brew 1 cup of coffee. I like to brew it really strong for extra flavor.

Next, I grab a sauce pan and add ½ cup of butter to it. I use a low heat and let the butter melt. Then I add ¾ cup dark cocoa powder to the coffee and mix it until it dissolves. I pour this mixture into the sauce pan with the butter. As I slowly stir it, I add ½ cup of raw sugar and continue to stir it, until it dissolves.

Then I add 3 egg whites and 1 whole egg to the mixture. I find it easier to crack the eggs, place them in a separate bowl. I then whisk them prior to pouring them into the sauce pan. I mix the egg and whites in until they are combined.

I take the sauce pan off the stove top and fold in 1 cup of whole wheat flour. Then here comes the best part, I add 1 cup of dark chocolate chips to the mixture until just combined.

Finally I pour the batter into the 9×9 pan. I bake it for 25-30 minutes. I can tell it is done when the top is no longer shiny. You might want to stick a toothpick or a fork in it just to make sure.

I let them cool before I cut them, but not for too long. My Dad will come along and start to eat them while they are still warm.
